  1. Blogging at 150kph

    May 5, 2006 by dafyd

OK – this is pretty cool…

I’m travelling home for the weekend, and because when I booked my tickets First Class was cheaper than Standard (bizarre, I don’t understand it either) I’m in GNER‘s First Class coach. Which is nice.

But even better – they have free WiFi interweb access for their First Class passengers (you have to pay to use it in Standard). Fun!

  2. Football … erm … Rugby … erm, what are we playing?

The legend that is Boris Johnson.

    From the Telegraph’s match report:

In the event, it seems that Boris, an old Etonian, had played most of his football on the beach and in the park.

“To be honest, I’m a rugby player,” he said. “I was always getting penalised for fouling when I played football.” No change there then.

He insists that his metatarsals are in good working order but his chances of getting the call from Sven Goran Eriksson are slim.

“That was a lot of fun,” said Boris. “I rather fancy doing it all over again. Do you think they will let me?

  3. Best. Date. Ever

    May 4, 2006 by dafyd

Not only is it Official Star Wars Day (“May the Fourth be with you”), but the time, right now, is 01:02:03 on 04/05/06…

    01:02:03 04/05/06

    The BBC has more

(I know, I cheated, I published this a little early. But I’m tired and have an exam in the morning, so you’ll forgive me for not staying up…)

  4. Get Lost

    May 3, 2006 by dafyd

So Lost has started again on Channel 4 here in the UK.

I’ve been doing my very best not to be spoiled about this season, but there are so many bloggers who just happen to mention it in passing that it gets very difficult…

Anyhoo – two episodes in, and it’s already weirder than the last series. And that’s not helped by the adverts Channel 4 played for the blatently made-up Hanso Foundation… but I’m not sure what to make of that. Wikipedia has more about the “Foundation”, but I don’t want to know about this Dharma Initiative thingy. Gah, sometimes I hate how easy it is to find things on Teh Interwebs.

So – Americans and people who have been sneakily downloading Lost – don’t tell me what happens!

UK people who have missed Lost – you can watch it online at Channel 4′s website (the first two episodes of the first season are free for the time being). US people – head over to the iTunes Music Store to buy episodes or watch them free online (with ads) at ABC’s site.

I dare say that I’m slightly more convinced now that this might work. Just might – I’m not overly convinced by Daniel Craig, but let’s wait and see…

  6. Stephen Colbert roasts George W Bush…

    May 1, 2006 by dafyd

… while George W Bush is sitting next to him.

This is from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner – the same one at which Bush appeared with a double. Colbert pokes fun at Bush and the press – very, very brave move when the room is full of them…

[YouTube has removed the video - you can watch it at Google Video, though...]

    Don’t miss parts 2 and 3.
