Why does it always rain on me?

Umbrellas Is it because I lied when I was 17? Huh?

Today was a perfect example of British weather.

I had four classes today, with a gap between each, so I could go back to my room and do some work.

Whenever I was about to leave my room to go down to Elvet Riverside, it was nice and sunny.

But five minutes before the end of each lecture/seminar/tutorial (I had all three today), the heavens would open and it would start to pour with rain.

Typical.

Elvet Riverside – the epitome of smart, stylish urban architecture in the North East – was obviously designed and built during a lengthy drought… it leaks. Everywhere. There is a bridge going between the two halves of the building – today, it also had waterfalls inside each end of the bridge…

  1. i was just wondering what site u went to to construct ur blog coz i really like the format and want to make one ! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Ooh – interesting question… here comes a long answer.

My blog is powered by Movable Type, which is software that you have to host on your own website – it’s quite complicated to set up, but when you’ve got it working, it’s really easy to use. If you have a website – and web space – an alternative to Movable Type is Wordpress – which does the same sort of thing with some different features.

If you don’t have a website – or don’t necessarily want the cost and hassle of having one – you need a hosted blog service – the two best known (and best, full stop) are Blogger (owned by Google) and TypePad (from the guys who make Movable Type).

As for the design – I did that myself. But there are plenty of templates available (especially for Wordpress) that you can adapt freely.

If you do decide to go down the Movable Type / Wordpress route – with your own site – drop me an email and I can sort you out with some webspace on my server and help you get set up… (that offer’s open to anyone, by the way)
