That’s right, I’ve got a lot going on at the moment.
I’m doing the lighting and sound for the Castle Theatre Company’s production of Pinter’s The Birthday Party – which started with the tech rehearsal on Tuesday evening, the opening performance tonight just finished, and the run ends on Saturday evening. It is a fantastic production, in the Castle’s Norman Chapel – so you’re very much in the middle of the action with an audience of only 50-ish. If you’re in Durham, do try and get a ticket – there should still be some left, although I know that Saturday is sold out.
However, I’m not doing the performances on Friday or Saturday, because I’m going home (yay!). We’re going to a quiz at Nottingham High School on Friday evening and one in Cropwell Butler on Saturday evening.
All good practice for the Castle University Challenge team, of which I am a member (I got the second highest score in Castle on the selection quiz – mwah hah hah). We are going to compete against the other colleges, and the best players (not team) will go forward to represent Durham in front of Jeremy Paxman.
This afternoon, I had to prepare a presentation for tomorrow with a friend, and then at 4 o’clock I had a choice of three commitments. Wow. I usually don’t do anything on a Wednesday afternoon. So, JCR web committee, looking at houses, or University Challenge team meeting? I chose the latter, if only because I was warned about it first… Obviously, there were also a few technical problems with the play to sort out before dinner.
On Friday afternoon I have a summative French translation test, which I have to pass to pass the year (well, almost – but it’s too complicated to explain here). That’s from 1.45 to 3.15, and then I’m catching the train home at 4 o’clock.
Add to all that the two essays that I have to write before the end of term – next Friday – and you’ll see why I might not be on MSN or blogging as much as usual over the next ten days or so.
Wish me luck!
good luck, then! and congrats. good luck to castle and to Durham.
Hey, at least the housing thing is sort of getting sorted out!
See you tomorrow afternoon

Good luck (and fingers crossed for Uni challenge!)
